Are You Excited?

I (Sherri C.) am excited to see what the Lord is going to do in us and in the children we serve. I'm helping Pastor Billy to get the blog up and going. I thought I would just tell you how to comment.
At the end of this post it will list how many comments there are. Click on this, and it will show you the comments. If you would like to leave a comment fill it in below. If you do not have a blogger account or one of the others listed click on Name/URL next to "Comment as." It will open up a place to put your name. Then you may either publish or preview your comment.

If you have good links for crafts, games, worship songs, or other websites that have helped you in preparing your lessons I'd appreciate if you would comment. I'd like to list them on the sidebar. If you have any ideas feel free to comment as well. Thanks, and God bless!

  2. At the meeting, we discussed covering the Bible every two years with each age group.

First of all, we need to have 13 week rotations, not 12 weeks like we do now. If we continue with 12 week rotations, we will shift the rotation schedule approximately one month every year. This will create a problem, especially with moving children up in the system as their grade changes.

A two-year curriculum would amount to 52 x 2 = 104 weeks. If we set aside one week for special lessons for Christmas and Easter, that leaves 100 weeks.

Perhaps the best way to look at lessons scope is to start with the Calvary Chapel curriculum. We can then go methodically through it, formulating the scope of 100 lesson plans for each age group. Lessons for each age group will vary depending on maturity level and age appropriateness of each subject. Many if not most of the lessons will overlap, especially with the older age groups.

We have our work cut out for us if we wish to start this plan in June. The entire lesson plan does not have to be written, but the breakdown of the lesson plans for the entire two years will need to be conceptualized so that the first quarter is an accurate representation of what needs to be covered in the two-year cycle.
